Chieti, a new vehicle for the Red Cross

{{item.title}}

A new vehicle fully equipped to ensure a transport service for the elderly and people living with disabilities to reach medical appointments at hospitals in the province of Chieti and to provide home deliveries of medicines and groceries. Enel Cuore has donated the Dacia 4x4, which is fitted with a siren, flashing lights and a two-way radio, to the Chieti branch of the Italian Red Cross. The vehicle was delivered on Saturday August 7 to the Red Cross premises in Guardiagrele: in attendance were the town’s mayor, Donatello Di Prinzio, the Commissioner of the Chieti branch of the Italian Red Cross, Luciano Conti, and representatives from Enel and civil and religious authorities.

The new vehicle will enable volunteers to perform and enhance the important services they provide in transporting medical test samples from the only operational Collection Point in the area (at the former hospital in Guardiagrele), to the hospital in Chieti, even in snowy weather. This service has become even more important on account of the current healthcare emergency.

The Chieti branch of the Italian Red Cross operates in an area consisting of around 30 municipalities in this province in the Abruzzo region, through six Area units within the Majella National Park. Every year it carries out thousands of healthcare assistance and social support operations for citizens in need, while also providing assistance during cultural and sporting events that involve the entire community.
