The call for proposal which has seen Enel Cuore work alongside Fondo Scuola, a non-profit organisation that collects and distributes free resources for schools, has successfully come to a close, building a bridge with businesses.
Thanks to our contribution, four Italian schools will have the chance to grow a vegetable garden, both land-based and soilless, introducing children to the world of herbs, flowers, ornamental plants and vegetables. Students will have the opportunity to understand the importance of craftsmanship and have fun personalising the pallets used for soilless gardens in wood cutting and painting workshops.
The project allows children to connect with nature and its various phases, by understanding the processes involved and actively contributing to the birth and growth of their plants firsthand.
The students and teachers of the four schools will be guided in this educational experience on environmental sustainability by the Bologna Association Biodivercity, one of the winners of our call for proposal Orti Urbani e Agricoltura Sociale, Urban Gardens and Social Agriculture, which also will provide a short training programme over the course of the project.
The four schools were chosen by a committee, consisting of the President of Fondo Scuola Bruno Mario Ferrari and by honorary members Ferruccio De Bortoli and Gabriele Nissim, after having evaluated 132 application forms based on various criteria: the need for integration, the number of students, the presence or lack of a vegetable garden, the guidelines of the various schools and possible disadvantaged situations.
The following four schools were selected, and we would like to take with opportunity to wish them best of luck for the great experience they are about to embark on.
