On May 3, 2016, the Eta Beta Social Cooperative will inaugurate Spazio Battirame in Bologna, Italy, in collaboration with Enel Cuore, as part of the Orti Urbani e Agricoltura Sociale (Urban Agriculture and Social Farming) project.
Surrounded by four hectares of land, cultivated according to organic farming principles, Spazio Battirame is open to the community and to the different cultures of the world: it is a place of synergy and exchange, where people – especially those who come from disadvantaged situations – can receive educational and professional training.
At the heart of Eta Beta’s activities are therapeutic and rehabilitative programmes, as well as job placement initiatives. The former Battirame industrial area on the outskirts of Bologna has been redeveloped to create a multifunctional horticultural area where individuals can receive training in urban horticulture, craftsmanship, beekeeping, apitherapy, and food handling and distribution.
All of these initiatives will be hosted in a country house open to all, encouraging the social interaction and integration of different people and cultures.
May 3rd represents the beginning of Eta Beta’s sustainable social and urban project, through a theatrical event performed in various acts, each of which in a different area of the house.
Food, music, circus acts and quality products will welcome visitors in a place that puts sustainability and agriculture at the heart of their activities, along with the people who put their hearts into the project.
