Enel Cuore, the Enel Group’s charitable organisation, is standing alongside the Puglia regional administration to support the main organisations involved on the frontline in the health emergency caused by the spread of the COVID-19 virus. A donation of one and a half million euro is to be assigned through the Civil Protection agency for the creation of new intensive care beds. 200,000 euro have been earmarked for new intensive care beds at the Perrino Hospital in Brindisi and the remaining 1,300,000 euro will go to other health facilities in the region to contribute to the creation of hospital wards for the observation of post-acute phase COVID-19 patients, the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as equipping ambulances.

“I thank Enel,” announced Michele Emiliano, president of the Puglia regional administration, “because, in a very short space of time, it responded to our call and, through its charitable foundation Enel Cuore, donated one and half million euro to help the people of our region. The Puglia region at this time, as you well know, is in dire need of extra intensive care beds, hospital wards and facilities for the observation of post-acute phase COVID-19 patients, as well as immediate supplies of PPE. The overall costs so far total 60 million euro. And for this reason, naturally in the name of all Puglia’s inhabitants, I would like to thank the Enel management for making this donation possible.”

Enel Cuore has granted a total of 23 million euro in response to the COVID-19 emergency. These funds will support projects that have already been identified, as well as those soon to be selected, thanks to dialogue and continuous coordination with the Civil Protection agency and national and regional institutions involved on the frontline in the fight against the spread of the virus.
