COVID-19 emergency, Enel Cuore on the ground, supporting frontline services

To help tackle the current public health emergency, we have allocated more than 23 million euros for the main organisations on the frontline in the battle against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

 “At such a challenging time for Italy, Enel, acting through its non-profit organisation Enel Cuore, wants to offer real help to support hospitals and local associations, as well as to strengthen the country’s response to the ongoing emergency,” declared Patrizia Grieco, President of Enel and Enel Cuore.

These support measures will be used to help:

  • Provide immediate support to the Italian Civil Protection Department in its work;
  • Support hospitals, healthcare facilities and agencies in creating new hospital beds and purchasing necessary equipment both in the hardest hit areas of Northern Italy and the rest of the country;
  • Guarantee the safety and continued work of Italy’s voluntary sector organisations;
  • Contribute to the work of local government bodies in providing assistance to those people who are struggling the most as a result of the healthcare emergency, and in the subsequent resumption of ordinary life in the area.

The allocated funds will be used to create both already-identified projects and others still at the identification stage, which we will define very shortly, thanks to ongoing dialogue and continuous coordination with the Civil Protection Department and national and regional authorities involved in the COVID-19 healthcare emergency.

“We are an Italian multinational company with deep roots throughout the country, and sustainability is the cornerstone of our strategy,” President Grieco (President of our onlus from May 2014 to May 2020) said, concluding: “As a result, we feel it both natural and very much our duty to help the local areas in which we operate and communities with which we work every day.”
