At the official opening in the aula magna of the Buzzi Hospital in Milan, the Buzzi Foundation and ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco presented the new 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine donated by Enel Cuore, the Enel Group’s charitable organization that supports projects and initiatives with a strong impact on communities.

The latest generation imaging machine will make it possible to perform examinations faster and more accurately, helping the “Nuovo e Grande Buzzi” become Italy’s first X-ray free pediatric hospital and a cutting-edge facility where children are always at the center of its activities. At the new structure young patients will benefit from the excellent service and a human touch, thanks to our “donate-accomplish-support” commitment.

The Buzzi Foundation was created to support the Vittore Buzzi Children’s Hospital, one of 11 pediatric hospitals present in Italy, the only one in Milan and Lombardy and one of the oldest: the Buzzi Hospital was, in fact, founded more than one hundred years go.

The Buzzi Foundation works to provide an excellent service for all children treated at the hospital and their families, pursuing clear objectives and investing every donation received in the creation of projects to support the best scientific research, the most advanced technology and to ensure that the latest treatments are accessible to all.

In recent years the Buzzi Foundation has worked to support the Vittore Buzzi Children’s Hospital in order to build the “Nuovo e Grande Buzzi”. This 10,000 m2 emergency and urgent care unit, developed over seven floors and connected to the existing hospital, will be a pediatric hub of international excellence where expertise, specializations and care converge to treat the most serious and complex conditions.

“We are proud to have contributed to the creation of an important project in pediatric medicine that strengthens the Buzzi Hospital’s capacity to offer excellent service to children and their families, making this structure even more of a reference point for the entire country,” announced Michele Crisostomo, Chairman of Enel Group and Enel Cuore Onlus. “Thanks to the innovative machine that we have donated, the medical staff can benefit from a cutting-edge tool that will enable them to perform a substantially higher number of diagnoses and to do so faster and more accurately, thereby offering tangible support to children who are living through the difficult experience of illness. For us this intervention assumes an even greater value because it is dedicated to the memory of Maria Cristina Milano, a colleague who, during her long career in our Group, was passionate about, and dedicated to, the values of Enel Cuore.”

“Today’s inauguration,” commented Letizia Moratti, the Lombardy Regional Council’s Vice President and Assessor for Welfare, “demonstrates the huge attention paid to children, who will be able to count on highly specialized equipment. This will put the Buzzi Children’s Hospital at the center of the network of pediatric operative units in the Milan metropolitan area.”

Stefano Simontacchi, President of the Buzzi Foundation, states: “We are proud to have completed this important project and to be able to inaugurate the 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine that contributes to making the Buzzi Hospital a center of excellence in pediatric treatment. Our dream is of a great pediatric hospital, a hospital that takes care of children and helps them, a hospital open to the world and the future, a hospital for all. A cutting-edge hospital, where diagnostic methods are child-friendly, risk-free and where professionalism combines with the personal touch and a holistic vision of the individual patient.”

“We are very grateful to the Buzzi Foundation for the constant support it has always provided our Hospital with, giving particular attention to the human touch and the technological improvements in all of the wards of the Nuovo Grande Buzzi, contributing to the creation of a cutting-edge hospital featuring the latest technologies and child-friendly specialist treatments,” announced Alessandro Visconti, General Manager of the ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco. “A special thanks go to Enel Cuore for the donation of the new 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine that means we can continue to offer excellent service and accurate analyses without subjecting our young patients to radiation, while also reducing sedation times.”
