One million euros to UNHCR and Save The Children for the emergency in Ukraine

The fundraising campaign promoted by Enel with the voluntary donations of colleagues and the contribution of Enel Cuore ended.

Rome, May 2, 2022 - The campaign promoted by Enel and aimed at the people who work in the Group in support of UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) and Save the Children has ended. The initiative, which allowed the two organizations to collect a total of 1 million euros, including voluntary donations from colleagues and the contribution of Enel Cuore, will support activities aimed at tackling the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine and will help the civilian populations involved in the Country and in the territories where the two organizations are active, thus responding to the needs of refugees and displaced persons.

Enel Cuore is the non-profit organization of Enel Group supporting projects and initiatives with a strong impact on communities and the local area. Interventions carried out in collaboration with Third Sector organizations, divided in four areas: culture and education of children and adolescents, work placement and social inclusion of people with frailty, autonomy paths for people with disabilities, fight against social poverty and protection of the health of the elderly. Actions aimed at present and future generations through projects aimed at people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, for a development model that creates inclusive and equitable value.

UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency, protects people forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution. It works in over 130 countries to protect million people, responding with life-saving assistance, safeguarding basic human rights and helping them build a better future. In relazione all’attuale situazione di emergenza, UNHCR è presente in Ucraina, Romania, Ungheria e Polonia, oltre ad aver allestito due nuovi Blu Dots, cioè degli sportelli di transito in Italia a Fernetti e Tarvisio; safe spaces that offer children, families and people with specific needs fleeing violence a stop where they can access essential services in safety.

Save the Children has been fighting for over 100 years to save girls and boys at risk and to guarantee them a future. The organization has been present in Ukraine since 2014 and is distributing basic necessities to children arriving in Poland and Romania, where it carries out specific activities for the protection of unaccompanied minors or those separated from their families. It has also set up spaces where children, thanks to the support of specialized operators, can play and have adequate support to process the suffered trauma and find some peace of mind.
