Promoting the culture of dialogue and peace among young students

Educating high school kids for peace and promoting the culture of dialogue by learning to deal with conflicts: this is the goal of the Rondine Cittadella della Pace Onlus Association through the "Rondine Section".

This is the project that we are supporting and which intends to make available for the Italian school the Rondine Method, that the Association has developed within the Citadel of Peace, a medieval village in the province of Arezzo which since 1998 has welcomed young people from countries affected by conflicts, experimenting a daily dialogue, overcoming the concept of "enemy" and becoming a de facto a peace leader. After the first five years of experimentation with the Fourth Year High School of Excellence, a scholastic, educational and training course was developed for the Italian students, with the aim of putting the teacher-student relationship at the center and allowing young people to develop inner resources and tools necessary to face the challenges of the Third Millennium, which have become increasingly central and urgent after the pandemic.

An innovative educational method that uses a relational approach to conflicts and allows to develop a model of creative transformation. 12 high schools will be involved in Campania, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Molise, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia and Tuscany, for a total of about 300 students, 120 teachers and 12 class tutors with the role of relational facilitator who, with support, orientation and connection actions, guarantees the full inclusion of students, creating the optimal conditions for learning.

In particular, our support will extend the Rondine method for the next three years 2022/2025 at the Enrico Caruso Technical Institute for tourism in Naples with the involvement of about 15 teachers1 tutor and 75 students with the aim of reaching 4 fundamental objectives, agreed with the Ministry of Education, University and Research:

  • Improving the quality of school inclusion through teacher training and updating;
  • Countering early school leaving and educational poverty among young people through a methodological-didactic experimentation path;
  • Encouraging the development of transversal skills through the relational approach to conflict transformation, enhancing the participants' intrapersonal skills with emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills with social intelligence and the skills of introspection and inner listening;
  • Strengthen students' competencies in civics and global citizenship.
