The Lazio Region deployed a strategic plan to strengthen its healthcare facilities during the Covid-19 emergency. The project we supported had a direct impact on several hospitals, responding in a targeted way to the needs of patient safety and care. At the Tor Vergata Polyclinic Foundation, two separate Intensive Brief Observation (OBI) and Boarding Area stable pathways were created to handle Covid and non-Covid patients, improving reception capacity and safety. At St. Andrew's Hospital in Rome, advanced personal protective equipment (PPE), such as FFP2 and FFP3 masks, face shields, disposable coveralls, and footwear, was purchased, in addition to upgrading the chest section for Covid diagnostics in the Emergency Department. Finally, St. Paul's Hospital in Civitavecchia (ASL Rome 4) implemented plexiglass dividers, sanitizers, and other essential PPE to deal with Phase 2 of the emergency. As a result of this intervention, it was possible to improve the healthcare response capacity, offering greater protection to patients and medical staff and ensuring timely and safe care.
