Disability should not be an obstacle to social participation and autonomy. For this reason, we decided to support a broad project aimed at ensuring direct support for people with disabilities and the facilities that accommodate them. FISH - Federazione Italiana Superamento Handicap (Italian Federation Overcoming Handicaps) is the organization coordinating the project, acting as the project leader. Founded to promote the rights of people with disabilities, FISH has always been at the forefront of ensuring that physical, social and cultural barriers that limit the inclusion of people with disabilities are overcome. For this project, FISH relies on the support of its regional offices and three other important entities: AISM (Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association), FAIP (Federation of Italian Paraplegic Associations) and AVI (Independent Living Association). Our contribution has made it possible to activate a widespread and inclusive support system that responds to the daily needs of people with disabilities throughout Italy. Among the services provided are home delivery of food and essential goods, medical-legal advice to navigate the health care system, psychological support to combat social isolation, and mobility interventions to ensure greater autonomy. In addition, the project supports residential facilities for people with intellectual and relational disabilities, promoting a more inclusive living environment that is attentive to specific needs. Thanks to collaboration between different entities, we are offering concrete support to those who need it most, helping people with disabilities to live with greater independence and dignity.
