At times, the social inequalities and difficulties of families caring for people with disabilities risk turning into silent loneliness. The need for support, listening and concrete opportunities is increasingly strong, especially in small towns, where stable points of reference are often lacking. It is precisely in this context that the “PRO.VI.AMO.” project fits: a concrete gesture of proximity, a collective embrace that translates into spaces, tools and relationships to leave no one behind. As Enel Cuore, we proudly support the Giovanni Paolo II Locorotondo Volunteer Organization, a living and generous community made up of volunteers, families and people with disabilities, which has been working for years to build paths to autonomy and integration. The Organization is a landmark for the entire area: a former school building transformed into a multipurpose center thanks to the determination of the community and the support of numerous institutional partners. A place that today hosts multimedia and music workshops, motor activities, and an educational and rehabilitation day center, involving more than 150 people with disabilities of various kinds. With “PRO.VI.AMO.”, together with the Giovanni Paolo II Organization we want to go one step further: to give life to a multifunctional space designed to accompany families and enhance the abilities of people with disabilities. The project has two basic cores: the first is a support desk dedicated to caregivers, offering tailored guidance and regional and national opportunities, but above all it creates a place for families living similar experiences to meet and share. The second is to promote the employment of people with disabilities as part of a project that is sustainable over time, with the opening of an artisan workshop, an exhibition space for the ceramic artifacts made in the workshops, in an area with a high vocation for tourism in the area where the art of ceramics represents a heritage of Apulian tradition. We believe that true inclusion comes from the recognition of the value of each person, from the possibility of feeling an active part of the community. With “PRO.VI.AMO.” we shine a light on this path, so that no one should feel alone and so that every family can have a network beside them that supports, encourages and builds together.
