Every day, we strive to build a more equitable society, where no one is left behind. But we know that for many people with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders, even the simplest tasks, such as getting to a workshop, going on a trip, or participating in a sporting event, can become insurmountable obstacles. The Odissea Servizi per il Sociale Cooperative, founded in 2019, works every day with passion and expertise to improve the quality of life of adults with autism, intellectual disabilities, and severe behavioral disorders. Today, Odissea manages residential centers, cohousing homes, and projects such as “Durante Noi” and “Dopo di Noi,” working in collaboration with public bodies such as Roma Capitale, the Municipality of Formello, and local health authorities. In addition to educational, rehabilitative, sports, and workshop activities, there are also summer rehabilitation stays, providing concrete, constant, and above all, human support. With “In viaggio con Odissea” (Traveling with Odissea), the project we support, we want to guarantee something fundamental: the right to mobility enshrined in Article 20 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to ensure participation in the cooperative's activities through the purchase of two 9-seater minibuses. This project allows us to: Provide daily transportation to and from the facilities where educational and rehabilitation programs are held; Offer accompaniment during outings, trips, and socialization experiences, so that the local area becomes an accessible and welcoming resource; Support participation in sporting, cultural, and social events, where everyone can express themselves, feel included, and share emotions. With “In viaggio con Odissea”, we help bridge a gap that is not only physical but also social. Because being able to move around and reach out to others means participating in social life, and we believe in a world where every person, at their own pace and in their own way, can follow their own path toward independence and integration. And we know that sometimes, all it takes is one more means of transportation to make a difference.
