One of the greatest difficulties faced by young people undergoing rehabilitation from addiction is returning to the world of work. Unemployment and precariousness increase psychological fragility and the risk of relapse, making it more difficult to stay on the right path. Work is an integral part of treatment: training, acquiring skills, feeling useful and recognized means laying solid foundations for a new life. The Comunità Incontro ETS, founded by Don Gelmini in 1963, is located in Amelia (TR) and is actively involved in the treatment of addiction in Italy and beyond. With support groups throughout Italy and centers in Bolivia and Costa Rica, the Community has welcomed over 300,000 young people since its foundation. Accredited by the National Health Service for the provision of residential rehabilitation therapy services, it registers around 700 admissions each year. Its long experience confirms that reintegration into the workplace is crucial to ensuring continuity of rehabilitation and preventing the risk of relapse. This awareness gave rise to the project we support, “Comunità Formazione Futuro” (Community Training Future), designed to accompany guests towards real independence through training and professional development courses. The project includes: a training program carried out in collaboration with accredited local institutions, aimed at 20 guests selected on the basis of their greatest likelihood of success; professional training courses for two key roles, social and healthcare worker (OSS) and kitchen assistant, skills that are currently in high demand in the labor market; ongoing psychological support to monitor and reduce the risk of relapse during the training phase; active job support, with CV writing and direct contact with companies, employment centers, and trade associations; the purchase of a fully equipped food truck, which will enable people trained as kitchen assistants to start their own businesses and participate in events throughout Umbria, strengthening their concrete employment opportunities. With “Comunità Formazione Futuro” (Community Training Future), we want to give young people not only a second chance, but a solid and dignified future. We believe that work is the way to restore confidence, stability, and hope, and that every skill acquired is a building block for a new life.
