We believe that sport can be a universal language, capable of breaking down barriers, bringing people together, and valuing differences. When play becomes an opportunity for meeting and growth, every limitation becomes a possibility. With these values in mind, since 2003, the Associazione Capitolina ODV has been promoting sport as a tool for inclusion and personal development, with a particular focus on children and young people with disabilities or from difficult backgrounds. Through rugby, the Association promotes values of loyalty, collaboration, and respect, transforming the playing field into a place of relationships, trust, and shared growth. We have decided to support the project “Inclusive Rugby - The Value of Diversity,” which consists of two complementary initiatives, both aimed at making rugby accessible to all and promoting a culture of inclusion through sports: A Goal for Growth Active for about 10 years in collaboration with the AIPD (Italian Association for People with Down Syndrome), this initiative promotes the inclusion of children with Down syndrome, attention disorders, and autism spectrum disorders in Capitolina youth teams (up to the Under 14 category). Training sessions and matches are held with the constant presence of a specialized educator, who accompanies the children during activities and trips, helping them to develop independence, confidence, and team spirit. ImplaccAbili Founded in 2018, this is the Association's Mixed Ability Rugby team, made up of adult athletes with and without disabilities. The project responds to the desire of young people who grew up playing mini rugby to continue practicing their sport in an open and inclusive environment. The ‘Mixed Ability’ model, pioneered in Italy by Unione Rugby Capitolina, represents an innovative and sustainable approach to social inclusion, encouraging the active participation of people with cognitive disabilities, neurodiversities, and psychological or relational fragilities. Training sessions are led by qualified coaches and professionals in the field, in a context of full equality and collaboration.
