When financial hardship makes even access to food difficult, everyday life can become a constant series of emergencies. Breaking this cycle requires more than responding to immediate needs: families also need tools that can help them regain stability and independence. Fondazione Azione contro la Fame Italia ETS is an international humanitarian organization committed to addressing the structural causes and consequences of hunger and child malnutrition around the world. Recognized as a global leader in this field, the Foundation works every day to save the lives of malnourished children while also providing access to safe drinking water and sustainable solutions to food insecurity. We decided to support the “Mai Più Fame: dall’emergenza all’autonomia” project, promoted by Fondazione Azione contro la Fame Italia ETS, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of activities already underway in Milan, Naples and Bari. The project helps consolidate the results achieved and supports families in vulnerable conditions on their path toward greater independence through new support programs that include food assistance and more. The program begins by addressing the most urgent needs. After beneficiaries are selected and enrolled, they receive grocery cards to help cover immediate food needs, together with food education and nutritional support. This initial assistance is complemented by activities designed to build greater independence over time. These include soft-skills development programs for groups of 25 participants lasting six months, as well as individual coaching aimed at strengthening awareness of each person’s abilities and improving employability. The project also includes career guidance, interview preparation and support in connecting job seekers with employment opportunities, through the involvement of local agencies and organizations. Overall, the project aims to reach and support around 300 families, helping them move from immediate need toward greater economic and personal independence. Our contribution will support the continuity of activities already underway in Milan, Naples and Bari for 12 months, helping bring together the project’s two key dimensions: providing a tangible response to hunger today while creating the conditions for families to no longer depend on assistance tomorrow.
