Every child deserves a safe place where they can grow, play and dream. Yet, there are situations where this fundamental right is lacking, leaving the youngest exposed to fragility and loneliness that no one should have to face, much less at an early age. It is precisely in response to this urgent need that our commitment alongside the Dolfin Social Cooperative was born, to offer a broader, more inclusive and locally rooted care. The Dolfin Cooperative manages, in collaboration with the Social Services and the Juvenile Court, the Family Community “L'Orizzonte,” which has been present in the Milan area for over thirty years: a place where children temporarily removed from their families find protection, support and human warmth. Every day, educators and operators devote attention and care to children - from 0 to 11 years old - from difficult family backgrounds, offering them a serene daily life and a new chance. With the project we support, “A Court Open to the Territory,” the Cooperative is preparing to take an important step forward: relocating the Community inside Cascina Monluè, an ancient 13th-century monastery that is now the subject of an extensive redevelopment project with a high social impact. This change represents much more than a move: it is a concrete evolution of the Community's ability to welcome, grow and open up to the territory. The new location will make it possible to start pet therapy programs, to organize educational workshops and outdoor activities in collaboration with neighbourhood entities, and to ensure greater mobility thanks to a 9-seater bus that will accompany children to school and to various daily activities. The project is part of a larger design involving 8 other third-sector realities that will transform the Cascina into a hub of shared social services: apartments for single mothers with children, a home for people with disabilities, a bistro for the job placement of frail people, and a guesthouse. A supportive, inclusive, living ecosystem. We believe that opening a courtyard to the local area means much more than redeveloping a space: it means building a more welcoming community together, where no one-especially a child-ever feels alone.
