In Italy, many women with underage children live in conditions of social, economic, and housing vulnerability. Experiences of violence, addiction, mental health challenges, or social marginalization make it even more difficult to provide children with a stable and protected environment in which to grow. In these situations, the absence of a support network and secure housing can compromise their chances of recovery and inclusion. This is where Fondazione Arché Onlus steps in - a Milan-based organization that for over 30 years has been supporting fragile families by building pathways to social, housing, and work autonomy. With passion, expertise, and unwavering commitment, Arché creates safe and welcoming environments where people can rebuild their lives, step by step. Through the project we support, “Feeling at Home”, the Foundation is renovating and expanding its housing services in the Quarto Oggiaro district of Milan. Within the CasArché complex, two new residential educational communities are being established: Casa Adriana and Casa Paola. These spaces are designed to welcome up to 8 mothers with 16 children, offering not just a roof over their heads, but a safe and caring environment where they can rediscover dignity, trust, and hope for the future. The women welcomed into these homes are experiencing severe hardship: they have been victims of violence, carry deep emotional wounds, and often have young children who need stability and affection. In these communities, they find trained professionals, educational and psychological support, and a protective family-like setting where they can finally feel “at home.” By supporting this project, we will provide a true refuge to those who need it most — responding to a growing social emergency in the area. Because every child deserves to grow up in a safe place, and every mother deserves a second chance.
