Every person has the right to live a full life, filled with relationships, discoveries, and opportunities to express themselves. For many people with disabilities, however, free time risks becoming empty time, marked by isolation and a lack of stimulation. The Consorzio Cooperazione e Solidarietà (Cooperation and Solidarity Consortium) was founded in the late 1980s on the initiative of Confcooperative Basilicata and was the first social consortium established in southern Italy. For over forty years, it has been a point of reference for social cooperation and solidarity-based entrepreneurship, providing support to the most vulnerable and promoting the social and professional integration of people living in marginalized and disadvantaged conditions. Its history is rooted in the idea that no one should be left behind. The project “Ri-uscire - Officina Ricreativa per il tempo liberato” (Re-emerging - Recreational Workshop for free time), which we have chosen to support, was created to improve the quality of life of 30 people with disabilities through integrated actions that strengthen self-determination and bio-psycho-social well-being. In particular, it provides for: Specialized home-based interventions for people with severe disabilities, involving psychomotor therapists, speech therapists, rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, and technicians who are experts in assistive devices and technologies. In addition, there are psychoeducational, art therapy, recreational, artistic, and cultural activities. MusicArteterapia and ARTLAB workshops, a workshop space dedicated to the encounter and exploration of artistic and craft languages, created in collaboration with the cooperative Il Salone dei rifiutati, which will provide specialized operators. Outings in the local area, in collaboration with the Centostrade cooperative, to promote social inclusion, knowledge of the local area, and the development of personal autonomy. With ‘Ri-uscire’ (Re-emerge), we transform free time into ‘liberated’ time, rich in meaning and possibilities, because we believe that true inclusion stems from the opportunity for everyone to enjoy fulfilling, creative and relational experiences.
